I'm in my first tri and was really craving pineapple yesterday, but my MIL panicked and said it can cause problems early on. Now im confused, is it actually bad or just one of those old sayings? Anyone ate it and was fine?
I asked my gynac this exact thing because I was craving it. She said the fear is from bromelain but you'd need to eat like 7-10 whole pineapples to even possibly affect anything, which no one does. So a normal slice or juice is safe, she actually said its good for vitamin C.
A small bowl is totally fine, I ate it in both my pregnancies. The whole 'pineapple causes miscarriage' thing is mostly a myth, the amount of bromelain in a normal serving is tiny. Just dont go eating a whole pineapple in one sitting and you're good.
I'm a bit cautious by nature so I waited till second trimester before adding it. Mild amount felt fine for me but everyone's body is different. If you have any sensitivity or your pregnancy is delicate, just run it by your doctor first to be safe.
Beta in our time elders always said avoid pineapple in early months, na. I wont say its 100% true but thoda kam khao in first trimester just for peace of mind. Once you cross 3 months a little is fine, lekin apne doctor se ek baar pooch lena.
Actually yaar I had pineapple cravings like crazy in my 5th month and ate it almost weekly, baby is perfectly fine. The scare is overblown honestly. Just keep it normal portion na, dont overdo.
