Is it necessary to take calcium supplements during pregnancy?
My gynac has written calcium along with my other tablets but i already drink a lot of milk and curd daily. So just wondering if the supplement is really must or food is enough. What did your docs say?
My gynac prescribed calcium from the second trimester because the baby needs a lot for bone development and it protects your bones too. She said diet alone often isnt enough. But take only what your doctor prescribes, dont self dose.
It is commonly recommended because the demand goes up in pregnancy, but the exact need depends on your diet and reports. Your doctor will decide whether and how much you need. Let the gynac guide the supplements na.
Yes, my doctor put me on calcium both pregnancies, it is pretty standard. Along with the tablets I had milk, curd and other calcium foods. Just follow your gynacs prescription, dont decide the dose yourself.
