Is it normal for your bum to hurt during pregnancy?
This is little awkward to ask but my lower bum area pains a lot esp when i sit long. 22 weeks now. Is this a pregnancy thing or something else? pls share if u felt same.
It's totally normal, baby weight is pushing down on your nerves and bones. This is mostly pelvic girdle pain or sciatica. Get a pregnancy pillow, sleep on your side, and don't stand for too long.
My saas told me to avoid sitting cross-legged on the floor when this pain started. It actually helped! It's just the baby putting pressure on your lower back and hip bones, but do tell your gynac if it becomes unbearable.
I had this too and instead of buying expensive pregnancy pillows, I just used my regular extra pillows for support. It saved me some money which is better kept for hospital delivery charges later. Try a warm water bag if your doctor allows.
My mother suggested a warm sesame oil massage for the lower back, which gave temporary relief. But when the pain increased, I consulted my doctor who suggested some gentle stretches. Please ask your doctor before trying any heavy massage.
Yes, it is very common because of the pressure on your pelvic area and nerves. Try sitting on a soft pillow and resting as much as you can. It will get better, take care.
