I have a bad throat infection and the doctor wants to start me on antibiotics. im in my second trimester and just feeling nervous about taking any medicine right now. did u all take antibiotics during pregnancy safely?
It really depends on which antibiotic and which trimester. There is a known list of safe and unsafe ones, and the doctor knows it. Best to call your gynac before taking anything, even a chemist suggested one is not enough.

Short answer, yes but only the ones your doctor gives. Dont touch your old medicine strips lying at home. I took a prescribed one for a throat infection in my second pregnancy, no issue at all.
Please dont take any antibiotic on your own in pregnancy. Some are safe, some are not, only your gynac can decide which one. I had a UTI and my doc gave me a pregnancy safe antibiotic, totally fine. Just never self medicate.
I used to panic even taking a paracetamol haha. But honestly the doctor knows best, they wont give you anything risky. Dont skip treatment for a real infection out of fear, that can be worse, just confirm with your gynac first.
