Chances are quite low right before period because ovulation has usually already passed. But low isnt zero, especially if your cycle is irregular. If you're trying, focus on the fertile window mid cycle instead.
With irregular cycles like mine, you cant really predict it confidently, ovulation can shift. So I'd never say it's impossible. If you're unsure about your timing, tracking with a doctor's help is much safer than guessing.

I was confused about this too. From what I read, the days just before period are usually less fertile. The mid cycle days are the real golden window for trying.
