I asked the clinical chef at my maternity hospital, and they told me fully cooked crab is perfectly fine in the second trimester. Just strictly avoid raw or cold crab preparations.
My saas told me crab is 'heat-producing' and advised against it, but I had a small portion of home-cooked crab anyway. Just balance it out and don't eat too much.
I felt so scared to eat seafood during my second trimester, but my hunger cravings were intense. I finally had well-cooked crab curry and it was totally fine, just make sure it's not raw.
Crab is actually a good source of protein and is low in mercury, which is great. However, because of the risk of food poisoning from undercooked seafood, discussing it with your doctor is the safest approach.
