Is it safe to carry heavy things during pregnancy?
I have to do some light lifting at home sometimes, like grocery bags. I'm in my second trimester. Is it safe for me to carry heavy things during pregnancy, or should I avoid it completely?
Please don't lift heavy things during pregnancy, your muscles are already stretched. Even after my C-section, I was told not to lift anything heavier than the baby for months. Take it easy and let your body rest. If you have any sharp pain, call your doctor immediately.
Lifting heavy things puts too much pressure on your pelvic floor and lower back, which are already under strain. My husband always tells pregnant patients to avoid lifting anything over 5-10 kgs. If you feel any cramps, call your doctor.
Since I had gestational diabetes, I had to be very strict with my diet and routine. Physical safety is just as important, so absolutely avoid lifting heavy things to prevent abdominal pressure. Always ask your gynac what level of activity is safe for you.
Your body is carrying a precious life, so please don't strain it by lifting heavy weights. Keep your mind peaceful and let others help you with the heavy lifting. If you feel any discomfort or pain, please consult your doctor.
Currently in my 3rd trimester and I don't even want to carry my own heavy body, let alone heavy things! Seriously, avoid lifting buckets or heavy bags, your back will thank you. If you feel any strain or pain, tell your doctor.
I can't give medical advice, but my doctor strictly told me to avoid lifting heavy things like filled buckets or suitcases. I listened to that and let my husband do all the heavy work! If you have any cramps, definitely let your doctor know.
