It's so hot these days and I really crave a cold drink like Thums Up or Coke. Is it okay to have it sometimes during pregnancy, or should I avoid it completely?
Since I had thyroid and high sugar risks during my pregnancy, my doctor strictly told me to avoid cold drinks because they are packed with preservatives and sugar. It is safer to stick to fresh juices or plain cold water.
It is fine to have a few sips if you are really craving it, dear. But try to limit it because of the high gas and sugar content. Fresh lime water or coconut water is much safer.
My tracking app warned me that aerated drinks are full of empty sugar and caffeine, which isn't great for the baby. Having a small glass once in a while is fine, but don't make it a daily routine.
Haha, a few sips of Sprite won't harm the baby at all! Just don't drink the whole 2-liter bottle in one go, otherwise the gas will make you feel like a balloon!
