I sometimes feel a bit low on energy during my pregnancy, especially in the afternoons. I was thinking of drinking glucose water. Is it generally safe to consume glucose during pregnancy, or should I be cautious about it?
In my experience, a little bit of glucose water is totally fine when you feel very tired or dehydrated. But don't make it a daily habit as it can spike your sugar levels. Simple water and coconut water work best for natural hydration.
Oh I panicked so much when I had a glass of Glucon-D in my first trimester, thinking I did something wrong! But my doctor reassured me that it is perfectly fine in moderation if you are feeling dizzy. Just don't overdo it, okay?
A glass of glucose is fine if you're feeling weak after vomiting, but don't drink it regularly. Plain nimbu paani with a pinch of salt and sugar is a much cheaper and healthier option. Ghar pe easily ban jata hai and it feels so refreshing too.
Having PCOS, I had to be super careful about blood sugar spikes during pregnancy. Plain glucose can raise your sugar very quickly, which isn't great. I would suggest coconut water or fresh lime water with very little sugar instead.
Since our journey was through IVF, we were incredibly cautious about every single intake. Having glucose water occasionally is usually safe for quick energy, but please do check with your doctor first to make sure your blood sugar levels are totally fine.
