Is it safe to eat drumstick leaves during pregnancy?
I love eating drumstick leaves, especially moringa sabzi, but I'm pregnant now. I was wondering if it's safe to continue having them during pregnancy, or if I should avoid it completely.
Cooked drumstick leaves are very healthy for hemoglobin levels during this time. You can easily make a simple stir-fry or mix a handful of leaves in your daily dal. Just don't overeat them, having it once a week is more than enough to get the benefits safely.
In my experience, drumstick leaves are wonderful for your health and help build strong bones for the baby. I used to eat them cooked with yellow dal during my second trimester, and it really helped with my energy. Just remember to always wash them thoroughly and cook them well.
No doubt they are healthy, but please don't ask me to cook them right now because I barely get two hours of sleep with my newborn! But seriously, my mom used to feed me cooked moringa leaves during pregnancy for iron. Just avoid raw ones or powders as they might upset your stomach.
I have been reading up a lot on what to eat when we start trying, and drumstick leaves (moringa) keep popping up as an amazing source of iron and calcium. It's good to know they are safe when cooked properly in food. I'm definitely going to add them to my diet plan!
Yes, they are actually super healthy! I recently delivered my baby and during my pregnancy, I had cooked drumstick leaves (moringa) in my dal or as a dry sabji once a week. Just make sure you cook them thoroughly and don't eat them raw or take any concentrated moringa powder.
To be honest, drumstick leaves are like a superfood, loaded with iron and calcium. My gynac told me cooked leaves are totally fine in moderation, like once or twice a week. But avoid raw leaves or those moringa supplements, they can be too strong.
From what I know, they are absolutely safe, provided you eat them in cooked form and moderate quantities. I used to add them to my sambar or make a quick sabji. Avoid raw leaves and ignore the fancy marketing of moringa supplements, stick to natural cooked food.
They are highly nutritious and safe, but honestly, cleaning those tiny drumstick leaves when you are in your third trimester and constantly exhausted is a major workout in itself! If you have someone to clean them for you, definitely have them cooked in dal. Just stick to normal food amounts.
