Trying to eat healthier this pregnancy and switched a lot of my meals to ragi and bajra. Im in 2nd trimester. Some lady online said too much millets isnt good in pregnancy and now im second guessing. Is it actually safe?
Yes millets are good, full of fiber and iron. Ragi, bajra, jowar all fine in normal amounts. I had ragi porridge often, kept my energy up. Just dont eat only millets, keep variety in your diet.
Millets were a staple in my pregnancy diet, good fiber and kept me feeling lighter. Pair them with veggies and dal. Always nice to balance a healthy plate with the gentle walks doctor allowed too.
Millets are actually nice because they are lower GI than white rice, helped me when I was watching sugar. Still portion matters, dont overload. If you have diabetes do confirm quantity with your doctor or dietician.
Ragi is loved in our home, my mother made ragi malt for me during both pregnancies. It's nourishing and good for calcium. Have it in moderation and you're good.
