Is it safe to fly in first trimester of pregnancy?
Have a family wedding next month and i'll be around 9 weeks then. Its a 3 hour flight and im a little nervous about travelling this early na. Did anyone fly in their first trimester? how was it for u?
I completely understand the urge to travel or maybe you have an urgent trip, and it's totally natural to feel anxious about it. Most doctors do allow it if everything is normal, but do whatever makes you feel emotionally comfortable and safe.
Personally, having gone through a loss before, I would strongly advise staying at home and avoiding any travel in the first trimester if possible. Even if doctors say it's technically fine, the peace of mind you get by resting at home is worth it. Please take care of yourself.
Please do not book any flights without a green light from your gynac first. The first trimester is very sensitive, and only your doctor can tell you if your pregnancy is low-risk enough for travel. Safety always comes first.
I had to be extremely careful with my health and diet, and long travels can disrupt your eating schedule completely. If you do fly after your doctor's approval, make sure you carry your own healthy snacks and stay hydrated throughout the flight.
I have been reading about this because we are planning a trip, and many say it's fine if there are no complications. But since the first few weeks are so delicate, I would feel a bit shy but definitely ask the doctor once before booking any tickets.
Flying with one baby is a task, flying with twins in your belly is a whole different workout, haha! Honestly, unless you have severe nausea or bleeding, doctors usually say yes, but flying can make morning sickness way worse. Better to travel only if it's absolutely necessary!
