I took autos to work till my 7th month honestly, not much choice in city life. Just avoid the super bumpy roads and tell the bhaiya to go slow. Hold the handle on speed breakers.
Auto is fine yaar, we all do it. Actually the only issue is jerks on bad roads. I used to sit properly in the middle and ask him dhire chalao. Short rides totally ok.
