Is it safe to travel in early stages of pregnancy?
We have a family trip planned and im just 8 weeks, its like a 6 hour car ride. Im thoda nervous about travelling so early. Will ask my doc also but wanted to hear ur experiences.
Honestly, with my severe morning sickness, I couldn't even travel 10 minutes in an auto without throwing up, let alone a long trip. If you have a lot of nausea or dizziness, traveling can make it much worse. Please speak to your doctor and carry all your prescribed motion-sickness medicines if you absolutely must travel.
We are planning a pregnancy soon and I also keep wondering about this because my job involves a lot of commuting. Do doctors usually suggest avoiding flights in the first few weeks, or is it mostly rough roads and auto rides that we need to avoid? Would love to know what your doctors advised!
Yaar, actually it depends a lot on how your pregnancy is going. In the first trimester, you feel so fatigued and nauseous that traveling can be super tiring. If it's a long journey, actually it's best to ask your gynac first because they know your health status best.
Generally, travel is safe in early pregnancy if there are no complications like bleeding or severe pain. However, because the first trimester is quite crucial, getting a green signal from your doctor is the safest approach. They can guide you on precautions, especially for long-distance travel.
I completely understand why you're feeling anxious about this, I was terrified of even taking a small car ride early on! But many women do travel safely. Just consult your gynac first to put your mind at ease, and make sure you take frequent breaks to stretch your legs.
From what my husband always advises, traveling in the early stages is usually fine unless you have a high-risk pregnancy. The main concerns are jerk-free roads, avoiding dehydration, and taking breaks to prevent blood clots on long journeys. Definitely get your doctor's okay before booking any tickets.
