Is it safe to travel long distance during pregnancy?
We have to go to my parents place for a function and its almost a 9 hour journey. Im in my second trimester right now. Bit unsure if such a long travel is ok, by car or train which is better? Would love to hear how others managed long trips.
I had to travel for work and managed fine in the middle months. I picked aisle seats so I could stretch and use the loo easily, and carried snacks. Just clear it with your gynac before booking long trips.
I checked with my doctor and also noted travel tips in my pregnancy app, like moving legs every hour to avoid clots. Stayed hydrated and carried my reports just in case. Second trimester travel was smooth for me.
I had a complicated pregnancy so my doctor told me to avoid long travel. It really depends on your case, dont assume its fine for everyone. Please ask your gynac before planning, especially in the last months.
It can be safe in the right months, just dont overtire yourself. Carry your medical file and your doctor's number wherever you go. Listen to your body and rest when needed, okay.
The middle trimester is the safest time to travel, around 4 to 6 months. Take breaks, walk a bit, keep water handy and dont sit cramped for hours. I travelled both times in second trimester with no issues.
