Is it safe to use indian toilet during early pregnancy?
At my ghar we only have indian style toilet and im just 6 weeks now. Mummy keeps saying sit carefully and all, so im a bit tense about the squatting part. Is it actually safe in early days ya should i be careful?
It's totally safe unless your doctor has advised bed rest! Consider it a free squat workout before the baby comes, but do hold onto a wall or door for balance so you don't slip!
My MIL was very strict about this and made us install a temporary western commode chair over our Indian toilet. She believed squatting too low early on puts pressure on the tummy. It's actually much more comfortable.
Oh, I worried about this constantly in my first trimester! I kept thinking what if the squatting pressure causes a miscarriage. Honestly, if you have a normal pregnancy it is fine, but definitely ask your gynac to ease your mind.
Indian toilets are actually great because squatting helps open up the pelvis, which later helped me with my normal delivery. Just make sure the floor isn't slippery and take proper support while getting up.
I panicked because our house only had an Indian toilet and I thought I was hurting the baby. But my gynac reassured me it's actually good for pelvic muscles unless there are complications. Just take it slow and be careful.
Since I had a PCOS history and was very cautious, my doctor advised me to avoid sitting completely flat on the floor in the early weeks. If you have any spotting or pain, please switch to a western toilet immediately to be safe.
