blocked nose se bohot pareshan hu since 2 days, cant sleep properly. i usually keep a vicks inhaler in my bag but scared to use it now. is it ok in pregnancy?
Oh, I totally panicked when I used it once in my first trimester, thinking I did something wrong! But my doctor laughed and said occasional sniff is absolutely fine and won't hurt the baby. Don't stress too much, just use it sparingly when it's really needed.
When I was pregnant with twins, my congestion was double and I kept an inhaler in my pocket. My gynac said it's fine for mild relief, but told me to stick to plain hot water steam for deep blocks. Steam is actually much safer and works wonders for a stuffy head.
I just delivered my baby boy last month, and I had a terrible cold in my final trimester. I used the Vicks inhaler occasionally and it was totally fine. But actually, inhaling steam with a little bit of Vicks gel in the bowl was way more comforting for me.
A blocked nose during pregnancy is the absolute worst, feels like u are breathing through a straw! Yes, Vicks inhaler is generally safe for a quick sniff here and there. Just don't glue it to your nose 24/7 like it's a fashion accessory, haha!
I used it a couple of times when my nose was heavily blocked, but honestly, my gynac said not to make it a habit because of the strong menthol. Since I had thyroid issues, I was already visiting the doctor regularly, so I always double-checked even small things like this with her. Please ask your doc during your next visit.
Don't worry dear, a quick sniff of Vicks inhaler is perfectly safe for a stuffy nose. Just try not to use it too frequently. If your cold is really bad, try drinking warm tulsi water and taking steam, it's a very soothing way to clear the block.
