Trying to conceive this month and suddenly my skin is itching here and there. Probably overthinking but I read so much online that now everything feels like a sign. Has anyone felt this in early days?
Mild itching, especially over the abdomen, is quite common in pregnancy, mostly due to hormonal changes and skin stretching. However, persistent and severe itching, particularly on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet, especially at night, should be reported to your doctor without delay. It could be a sign of obstetric cholestasis, which needs medical attention. So, don't dismiss intense itching.
Haan beta, sometimes itching can be a part of it, especially later on as your skin starts to stretch over your belly and breasts. When I was ghar pe with Amma, she used to apply a little coconut oil to my belly for the dryness. But if it's very intense or widespread, don't just ignore it. Pls talk to your doctor about it during your next visit, just to be sure it's nothing to worry about.
Hah! Is itching a symptom? Well, for me, being pregnant was a symptom of literally everything, from craving pickles at 3 AM to sudden urge to re-organize the spice cabinet. Kidding aside, some mild itching can happen as your skin stretches. But if you're scratching like a mad cat, definitely tell your doctor. Don't suffer in silence, your gynac can tell you what's normal and what's not!
I felt so many weird things during my first pregnancy, and itching was definitely one of them! Especially on my belly as it started growing. I remember thinking 'is this normal?!'. My gynac said mild itching is okay due to hormones and skin stretching. But if it feels really bad, especially if your hands and feet are super itchy, please tell your doctor immediately. It can be a sign of something more serious.
Oh, it's quite common for skin to feel a bit different during pregnancy, you know, due to all the hormonal changes. My MIL used to say 'skin is changing colour, baby is coming!', haha. Mild itching can happen, especially as your skin stretches. But if it's really severe, especially on palms and soles, and non-stop, please check with your doctor. Always better to be safe and let the gynac confirm anything serious.
