I'm in my first trimester and craving some kathal (jackfruit). My elders say it's not good, but I wanted to check if it's really safe to eat during early pregnancy. What do you all think?
It's fine if you have it in small portions, just make sure it's cooked well and not too oily. I usually have a small bowl and then go for my evening 30-minute walk, which my doctor allowed since day one. It really helps with digestion.
Haan na, everybody gives different advice on this and it gets so confusing. Cooked jackfruit is generally safe if you don't overeat. Bas hot and spicy heavy gravy avoid karna to keep acidity away.
Mere ghar pe toh my saas strictly said no to ripe jackfruit because of the 'garam' effect. But she allowed raw kathal sabzi once in a while in small quantity. Just don't eat too much of it at one go and you'll be fine.
Oh dear, I totally understand how scary it is to eat anything in the first few months because we only want the best for our little one. Honestly, eating cooked raw jackfruit (kathal) is fine in moderation, but do avoid the ripe sweet one as it's very heavy. Just eat a little bit to satisfy your craving and be happy.
I was also craving kathal ki sabzi last week but got super scared after reading things online! My MIL said it's hot for the body, so I only ate two small pieces. Did your doctor say anything about avoiding it completely or is a little bit okay?
