My MIL keeps giving me gud after meals saying its good for me and the baby. I do like it but just wondering if its actually beneficial or just an old belief. Anyone been told the same?
I'd be a little careful here. Jaggery is more natural but its still sugar, and with my gestational diabetes my doctor told me to watch even gud. If your sugars are fine then a little is okay, but pls dont assume its unlimited.
We use jaggery a lot in our cooking and my doctor never stopped me. It has iron also which is nice during pregnancy. Just keep the quantity moderate and it should be fine, listen to your gynac if she says otherwise.
Honestly jaggery is cheap and natural so I preferred it over fancy supplements for that iron boost. A little daily worked for me. But get your sugar levels checked anyway during routine tests so you know where you stand.
Beta in our homes gud has always been given to pregnant women, its better than white sugar for sure. I used to have a tiny piece after meals. But if you have any sugar issue then check with doctor first, dont overdo it.
I always lean towards natural stuff and gud was my go to for that sweet craving. Felt lighter than sugar to me. Just dont go overboard, and if you have any health condition then ask your doctor before making it a habit.
