MIL adds jayetri (nutmeg) in a lot of our cooking and we are trying to conceive these days. Someone told me it can affect conceiving, is there any truth to it? Bit confused na.
Wait, really? I am 4 months pregnant and my mom sometimes adds a tiny bit of javitri in biryani, is that unsafe? Or does it only cause issues if we eat it in large amounts? I should probably ask my gynac in my next visit.
Haan na, javitri thodi garam hoti hai toh conceiving ke time zyada nahi khani chahiye. Normal khane mein thoda chal jata hai par alag se mat lena. Ek baar doc se bhi pooch lo safe side ke liye.
After what I went through, I became extremely cautious about 'garam' spices like javitri or mace. While a tiny pinch in a curry won't hurt, it is best to avoid any concentrated herbal preparations containing it. Please be very careful and consult your doctor if you are trying to conceive.
When we were planning our pregnancy, I felt so paranoid about every single spice in my kitchen, including javitri. I read that it can sometimes cause uterine contractions in very large amounts. I felt it was much safer to just avoid it in my food until we conceived.
