I love eating kimchi, but I'm not sure if it's good for me now that I'm pregnant. Is kimchi considered a good and safe food to eat during pregnancy, especially given its fermented nature? What do you all think?
Kimchi has probiotics which is good, but post my C-section I had to be very careful with fermented foods because of gas. If your stomach is sensitive, eat just a little bit at first to see if it suits you.
Listen, cravings are normal but fermented foods can sometimes cause stomach infections if not prepared properly. Eat it only if it is from a highly hygienic place, and if you feel any burning or discomfort, stop immediately.
Oh my God, I had such crazy spicy cravings during my pregnancy and ate kimchi quite a few times! My kid is 2 now and perfectly fine, just make sure you don't overdo the spice to avoid acidity.
It's great for gut health because of the fermentation, but make sure it's pasteurized and made hygienically. Street-side or unpasteurized ones can carry bacteria, so better stick to trusted brands or homemade.
