Litchi season is here and i can't stop craving them, eating like 8-10 a day haha. But my mom says too much heat fruit is not good in pregnancy. Im in my second tri, is it okay to have these or should i go slow?
Litchi is fine in normal amount, I enjoyed it in summer. My mother always said anything in moderation is ok during pregnancy. But I did check with my gynac once about fruits and she said variety is good, just don't overeat one thing.
When nothing else stayed down, fruits like litchi were easy on my stomach honestly. Cold and juicy felt nice during nausea. Just eat fresh and clean ones and keep the quantity sensible.
Beta in our time we ate seasonal fruits freely and litchi was a favourite. Just wash well and eat fresh ones, not the ones kept long. Two three a day is plenty, no need to eat a whole bowl.
Oh I was craving litchi so badly in my second trimester. I'd eat a handful and feel so happy. Just don't go overboard like I almost did, they are sweet and you can finish a kilo without realising.
Litchi is generally considered safe in pregnancy in normal amounts. The only caution I read is not eating on totally empty stomach because of sugar. If you have any sugar issue do confirm with your doctor, otherwise enjoy in moderation.
Just a gentle note, litchi is quite sweet so I was careful with it. I had gestational diabetes so my doctor told me to limit sugary fruits and count portions. If your sugar is normal a few are ok, but worth keeping in mind.
