My MIL keeps making luffa sabzi (turai) almost every other day saying its light and good for pet. Im in my second trimester and honestly i dont mind the taste but just want to know if its actually beneficial or just a ghar ka myth. Anyone eating this regularly?
I was so scared to eat anything new after my loss, so I understand your caution. Eating cooked luffa (tori) is completely safe and actually helps with constipation. But if you're ever doubtful about any food, just check with your doctor once for peace of mind.
Of course it is! Luffa (tori or ridge gourd) is packed with dietary fiber and low in calories, which is great to prevent gestational diabetes. It's an underrated green veggie, definitely add it to your diet.
With my twins, I was eating like a monster but tori (luffa) was my savior for acidity. It's super easy to cook and digests fast, leaving space for my next craving haha. Go ahead and have it, it's totally fine.
I get it, even I used to double check every single vegetable and skin product during my pregnancy because of anxiety. If you mean luffa/tori vegetable, it's super healthy and easy on the stomach. If you mean the bath loofah, just ensure it's clean so you don't get any skin infections.
My toddler now runs around the house, but back when I was pregnant, tori/luffa was one of the few veggies that didn't trigger my nausea. It's highly nutritious and light. Don't worry, it is very good for health.
God has made nature so beautiful, and fresh green veggies like tori (luffa) are like a blessing for the body during these days. It has good water content and is light for digestion. Just keep your mind positive and eat fresh ghar ka khana.
