Got some mangosteen from a relative who came from south and im craving it badly. Not a fruit I eat normally so not sure if its fine now. Anyone had it during pregnancy?
We get this fruit a lot here and i enjoyed it in season while pregnant, no trouble. Family says fruits are good, just keep variety and dont eat too much of one thing. If you have a specific health condition just confirm with your gynac once.
Eating the actual fruit occasionally is usually considered safe, it's not a banned food. Just wash it well and keep portions sensible. For anything beyond casual eating, your doctor's word is best.
In normal small amounts as a fruit it's generally fine, i ate seasonal fruits through both pregnancies. The thing to avoid is mangosteen supplements or concentrated extracts, those are different. Just eat it like normal fruit, dont go overboard.
It's sweet so i was careful with quantity because of my sugar levels. As a regular fruit in moderation it should be ok, but if you have any sugar issues watch the portion. When unsure i always asked my doctor before adding a new fruit.
