My mother-in-law suggested I include methi leaves in my diet during pregnancy for various benefits. I just wanted to confirm if methi leaves (fenugreek) are generally considered good and safe to eat while pregnant.
Methi leaves in normal food quantities are safe, but please check with your doctor before eating too much of it or taking methi seeds. Since I had a high-risk pregnancy with early contractions, my gynac advised me to avoid concentrated fenugreek items altogether. Better to be cautious!
I was so worried because my MIL wanted me to eat methi paratha but my friend said methi causes 'heat' and uterine contractions! Actually, normal food amount of leaves is completely fine and safe, just don't take concentrated methi seeds or tea. Eat a little bit and you'll be fine!
I ate plenty of fresh methi saag and methi rotis during my pregnancy, and it really helped keep my digestion smooth and blood sugar in control. It's a fantastic, healthy green leafy veggie, just wash it thoroughly before cooking!
