Mosquitoes are crazy in our area right now and i cant sleep without some repellent. But i keep wondering if the liquid plug in one or the cream is okay to use being pregnant. What are u all using these days?
Protecting from mosquitoes is actually important in pregnancy because of dengue and malaria. I used a plug in repellent in a ventilated room and creams sparingly on clothes more than skin. Many are considered ok used as directed, but I did check with my doctor about which type to prefer.
I leaned towards safer options, mosquito nets, screens and citronella type things, and kept chemical sprays to a minimum and well ventilated. That said, dengue is far more dangerous than the repellent, so dont avoid protection. For repellents on skin, ask your doctor what is fine for you.
We used the plug in liquid one but always in an open airy room, never closed. Mosquito net over the bed is the safest old method and my mother insisted on it. The illness from mosquitoes is the bigger worry, so do protect yourself, just confirm with your doctor about creams.
Realistically you need protection from mosquito borne illness. I went with physical methods mostly, full sleeves, mosquito net at night and keeping windows screened. For sprays and liquid vaporisers, use in an airy room and dont sit in a closed space with it. Quick check with your gynac on creams is worth it.
