For the past few days everything tastes bitter in my mouth, even water and my morning tea feels weird. My period is also a few days late. Is this bitter taste actually an early sign or am i just overthinking it?
Yes! I felt this weird bitter metallic taste in early weeks and it was so off putting. My gynac said its a common early symptom from the hormones. It did go away by second trimester for me, so dont worry too much.

That metallic bitter taste in the mouth is actually a known early pregnancy thing, called dysgeusia. I had it both times. Chewing on a bit of lemon or having something tangy helped mask it. Totally harmless.
