Doctor has suggested an mri for an unrelated issue and im 16 weeks now. Got a little scared if it can affect the baby. Has anyone here done one during pregnancy?
I had to get a scan during my pregnancy and my gynac and the radiologist discussed it carefully first. They only do it when the benefit clearly outweighs anything. So please dont decide this alone, let your doctors guide.
When mine was suggested I asked the hospital team directly about safety and they explained everything clearly. They confirmed no contrast and that it was needed. Always ask the doctor and radiology staff to walk you through it.
My doctor told me MRI without contrast is generally considered safe when it's medically needed, unlike X rays. They usually avoid it in the very first trimester unless necessary. Always done only on doctor's advice though, never casually.
