My mom keeps giving me nannari sharbat saying it cools the body in this heat. I do like it but just want to make sure its fine during pregnancy. Anyone from south here who had it?
Nannari is a great natural coolant, but my pregnancy tracker app suggested limiting herbal drinks in the first trimester. Having a glass of nannari sarbath occasionally in summers is fine, but check the sugar content.
I drank nannari sarbath during my hot third trimester to beat the heat, and it really helped with acidity. Just make sure the water used is clean and keep the sugar level low. It's safe in moderation.
Since it is an herb, I was very careful and avoided nannari during my IVF pregnancy. While it is a traditional coolant, please check with your doctor once before starting any herbal drinks just to be absolutely safe.
It's good to cool down your body, but don't drink it like water because of the high sugar in the syrup! Carrying twins made me feel like a furnace, so I had it sometimes, but fresh lime juice or coconut water is safer.
It is fine to have occasionally to cool your body, but make sure it doesn't affect your regular diet or medication. Always discuss any herbal syrups with your doctor during your regular follow-up visits.
When I stayed at my parents' place, my grandmother used to make fresh nannari sarbath with lemon to reduce body heat. It is a very safe traditional drink, but make sure you don't add too much white sugar.
