Im in my second trimester and totally blocked nose since 4-5 days, breathing at night is a pain. I used otrivin before pregnancy but now thoda scared to use without checking. Will ask gynac too but wanted to know if anyone used it during pregnancy?
I had a very difficult pregnancy and my doctor told me never to use nasal sprays like Otrivin without a prescription. It can affect blood flow or blood pressure sometimes. Please check with your doctor before using any medicine.
I totally understand how frustrating it is when you can't breathe properly, especially when you are sleeping. But please take care of yourself and your sweet little baby by asking your doctor first. Don't take any risk with nasal sprays right now dear.
Handling blocked nose is annoying but don't just self-medicate now. With twins, I was always running to the doc even for a sneeze because random OTC sprays can be risky. Better ask your doc first, don't play doctor yourself!
I strictly avoid any over-the-counter sprays during pregnancy. Please don't use Otrivin or anything without checking with your gynac first. Sometimes these have chemicals that might not be safe for the baby.
I've seen many moms ask this, and honestly, most doctors suggest avoiding strong nasal sprays unless prescribed. Try using simple saline drops or taking steam. If it is too bad, just shoot a quick message to your doctor to be safe.
Actually, buying random sprays might seem cheap but if it causes any reaction, doctor visits and tests will cost so much more. Just call your gynac's assistant and ask if it is safe. Steam inhalation is free and totally safe, try that first!
