We had a family lunch planned and there was prawns curry, i love it so much but i held back. Now im second guessing myself. Is seafood like prawns ok during pregnancy or better to skip? anyone else had it?
I would just say be a little careful with freshness, stale seafood can upset the stomach badly and you dont want that now. Cooked and fresh is the key. If unsure check with your gynac once.
We eat a lot of seafood at home so I asked my doc too. She said cooked prawns are okay in limited amount. Just make sure its fresh and properly cooked, no raw stuff. Family also said same thing.
My doctor said well cooked prawns in moderation are fine, they have good protein and omega 3. The main rule is fully cooked, never raw or half done. Avoid the high mercury big fish though.
Cooked prawns are fine, ate them in both my pregnancies. Just dont overdo and make sure they are fresh and cooked through. If you ever had a seafood allergy then skip it of course.
