I always thought the count starts from when u actually conceive but my friend said its from the last period. Now im confused about the ovulation part. Can someone explain how it really works?
It is counted from your last period, not ovulation. That is why the weeks can feel a little confusing at first. Your gynac uses the period date and the scan together to fix your due date.
No, my doctor explained that pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of your last menstrual period, not from ovulation. So technically you are about 2 weeks pregnant before conception even happens in that counting. The dating scan then fine tunes it.
My tracker app asked for the last period date for exactly this reason, the count starts from there. Ovulation is roughly 2 weeks into that count. The app made it easy to stop overthinking the dates.
