First trimester tiredness is hitting me hard, i could literally sleep 10-11 hours and still nap in the afternoon. MIL keeps saying too much sleep isnt good for the baby. Is sleeping this much actually a problem or is it just my body needing rest?
Pregnancy is basically a license to nap, enjoy it before baby comes and never lets you sleep again haha. Sleeping a lot is fine, just throw in a small walk so you dont feel like a sloth.
My gynac said increased sleepiness, especially in the first and third trimester, is completely normal due to hormones and the body working overtime. She only mentioned that from later months, try sleeping on your side rather than flat on the back.
I was exhausted and slept every chance I got, totally normal. It is not harmful. Just keep a bit of light activity in your routine and stay hydrated. If you feel unusually drained even after lots of sleep, mention it to your doctor.
In my first trimester I slept SO much, I felt guilty but my body just needed it. The tiredness is real because of hormones. I think rest is good, just dont stay in bed the whole day without any movement.
Extra sleep especially early on is normal, your body is working hard. It is not bad. Just balance it with a little walking and activity so you dont feel stiff and lazy. Listen to your body honestly.
