Im in my 2nd trimester and my mom keeps making palak in everything saying its good for iron. I love it but just wanted to be sure how much is ok to eat na. Anyone else eating a lot of spinach these days?
Beta palak is very good for khoon, we have given it to all pregnant ladies in our ghar. But always pakao it properly, kacha mat khao. And dont overdo, thoda thoda is enough.
We make keerai (spinach) at home very often and my amma always said it builds blood. I had it through both pregnancies, no issue. Cooked properly it's fine, but if ur doc has put u on iron tablets then just follow that also na.
Spinach is one of the safe greens, low in sugar too which helped me when I had GD. Just keep variety, dont eat huge amounts of only one thing. Cooked palak sabzi was a regular for me.
I add palak to my morning smoothie but I steam it lightly first, never raw now in pregnancy because of infection risk. My gynac was okay with it. Good for iron levels honestly.
Haan it's good, palak has iron and folate which u need anyway in pregnancy. Just wash it really really well before cooking, dont eat it raw in salads. I used to add it in dal and roti, easy way to get it in.
