I have hypothyroid since few years and im on medication for it. Now that im pregnant my family is a bit worried about how it affects the baby. Anyone here had thyroid during pregnancy, how did it go for u?
Yes it does matter, I had thyroid through both my pregnancies. As long as you take your medicine properly and get the levels checked regularly, its totally manageable. My gynac tested my TSH every few weeks and adjusted the dose. Just dont skip the follow ups.
I have hormonal issues so my doctor checked thyroid closely too. From what I understood it can affect things if left untreated, but managed thyroid pregnancies go totally fine. I wouldnt panic, just stay regular with tests and ask your gynac for your specific numbers.
Thyroid can affect pregnancy if its not controlled, both high and low. The good news is its very common and easily handled with medication and monitoring. Get your TSH tested early and keep taking what the doctor prescribes. Dont stop meds on your own.
Ma my sister also had thyroid in pregnancy and her baby is perfectly healthy. The main thing is taking the tablet on empty stomach as told and checking levels. Family said many things but we just followed the doctor and it was fine.
My doctor explained that thyroid hormones are important for the baby's brain development especially early on, so they like to keep levels in a tight range. Thats why they test often and adjust dose. If you have thyroid, just flag it to your gynac right away so they monitor it.
