My gynac has asked for one more scan and my MIL keeps saying too many usg are not good for the baby. Im 22 weeks and now im a bit confused honestly. Anyone know if it actually causes any harm?
My amma also got a little scared hearing scan scan, she thought too many is bad. I told her doctor knows best and only does what baby needs. Nothing to fear ma.
My gynac explained that the scans she advises are sound waves, not radiation like xray, so they dont harm the baby. She only orders the ones that are actually needed in each trimester. So please dont stress about it, its part of normal checkups.
I used to worry about this so much, would google every time before a scan. But honestly the doc only does it when required, she doesnt do extra ones for no reason. That calmed me down.
Both my pregnancies I had usg multiple times, both kids totally fine. Its routine, doctors use it to make sure baby is growing well. Dont avoid it out of fear.
Ultrasound is considered safe in pregnancy, its been used for decades. The only thing is dont go getting extra non medical scans just for fun photos. Stick to what your gynac recommends and youre good.
