I'm looking for ways to stay active and healthy during my pregnancy. Is doing yoga good for pregnancy? Are there specific poses or types of yoga that are recommended or to be avoided?
Beta, gentle stretches and pranayama are very good for both you and the baby. Do simple breathing exercises but avoid bending too much or lifting heavy things. Drink a glass of warm milk after your session to feel active.
Doing prenatal yoga was so beautiful, I felt so connected to my baby during the breathing exercises. It really helped with my lower back pain and made me feel calm. Just make sure to do it under an expert's guidance.
My hospital had a wonderful prenatal yoga and wellness program included in our maternity package. I highly recommend asking your doctor or the hospital's physiotherapist before starting any poses, as some postures are strictly avoided.
Prenatal yoga helped me a lot during pregnancy, but since I had a C-section, I had to stop post-delivery. Be very gentle with your body now, and don't push yourself. The flexibility you gain now really helps with postpartum recovery later.
