My sweet cravings have gone through the roof this pregnancy and im 22 weeks. Now im worried about sugar and gestational diabetes. Do i need to fully cut sweets or just go easy? how did u all manage.
If I had to fully avoid sweets I'd have cried, the cravings are real yaar. I just kept portions small, a couple of bites instead of a whole bowl. Total avoiding isn't needed unless your doctor flags your sugar. Enjoy a little, just don't go overboard daily.
I didn't cut sweets out, I just balanced them, smaller portion plus a short walk after a heavier meal which my doctor had cleared. Moderation over deprivation worked for me. Just stay regular with your glucose tests and you'll know if you need to be stricter.
I developed gestational diabetes so I had to really cut sweets, but that was my specific case. For a normal pregnancy you don't have to avoid them completely, just keep it in moderation. The main thing is getting your sugar test done on time, that tells you how careful you actually need to be.
Unless you have diabetes or your doctor advises otherwise, you don't need to give up sweets, just be sensible with quantity. Excess sugar isn't great for anyone, pregnant or not. Let your sugar screening guide how careful to be, that's the honest answer.
