I've caught a cold and fear it might turn into something needing antibiotics. I'm very concerned about taking anything during pregnancy. Could anyone share general information about which antibiotics are considered safe for pregnant women to take?
I have a mild throat infection and I am so scared of taking any medicine right now. Has anyone else been prescribed antibiotics by their doctor during the second trimester? Is it really safe for the baby?
Beta, don't take strong medicines unless it is absolutely necessary and the doctor has written it down. For a simple cough, try warm turmeric milk or gargling with salt water first, but do show your doctor if you have a fever.
Please do not take any over-the-counter antibiotics at all during this time. Even for a small cold or infection, please let your gynac decide what is safe because we have to protect the baby at all costs.
I totally understand how scary it is to take medicines when you are carrying a little life inside you. But sometimes doctor-prescribed antibiotics are necessary to clear infections so that you and baby stay healthy.
Only your gynecologist can tell you which antibiotics are safe. Never self-medicate or search online for drug names during pregnancy, just call your clinic and get a prescription.
