Im a first time mom and want to actually understand whats happening to my body week by week. There are so many books online i dont know which ones are worth it. What did u all read and found genuinely helpful?
My doctor recommended 'What to Expect When You're Expecting', its like the classic one, covers everything week by week. I found it really reassuring. There are good Indian ones too on garbh sanskar if u r into that.
Honestly I read less books and used apps more for the week by week stuff, easier on phone. But for a proper read 'Ina May's Guide to Childbirth' was lovely for understanding labor. Mix of both worked for me.
I liked reading something calming rather than only medical, kept my anxiety down. Whatever u pick, dont google every symptom while reading, that spirals fast. For medical doubts just keep a list and ask ur gynac.
I read some garbh sanskar books and also did calm reading of stories, it kept my mind peaceful. Many families believe positive reading affects baby too. Whatever brings u peace beta, that is the right book.
Read whatever doesnt scare u yaar, some pregnancy books are too much detail and just stress u out. A gentle one plus ur doctors advice is plenty. Dont feel u have to read 10 books.
