Been trying for almost a year now without luck and getting a bit disheartened. Just want to understand what are the common reasons couples struggle, so i know what to check with my doc. Pls share.
For me PCOS was the main hurdle, my cycles were irregular so timing was hard. But there are many possible causes and it's not always the woman, the male factor counts too. Best to get both partners checked rather than assume. Dont lose hope.
There can be many reasons, hormonal, structural, thyroid, sperm related, and sometimes doctors dont find a clear cause at all. I know how heavy this question feels. A good fertility specialist can guide you gently through the tests. You're not alone in this.
The major ones are ovulation problems, tube blockage, hormonal imbalances like thyroid and PCOS, and male factor issues. Stress and weight can affect it too. If you've been trying over a year (or 6 months if over 35), see a specialist for proper testing.
Dont forget thyroid, it quietly affects conception and many dont realise. Mine was off and once treated things improved. A simple blood test catches it. So along with the other causes, get your thyroid checked and keep regular follow ups.
There are several reasons it can take time, but please dont jump to thinking the worst. Many couples just need a little more time or small medical help. Get checked together, stay calm, and take it one step at a time.
From what my doctor explained, common reasons include irregular ovulation (like in PCOS), blocked tubes, thyroid or hormone issues, and sometimes it's the male side too, low sperm count. Age plays a role as well. A basic fertility workup checks most of these.
