What are the psychological changes during pregnancy?
I've noticed a lot of changes in my moods and emotions since becoming pregnant. What are some of the common psychological changes that occur during pregnancy?
My mood directly depends on what food is in front of me! If I don't get my midnight ice cream, I feel super sad and start crying, food is literally my therapy right now.
Oh the mood swings are wild! One minute you are crying and the next you want pizza. 🍕 It's all because of pregnancy hormones, so just enjoy the ride and don't worry too much! 🥰
Along with anxiety, you might feel a lot of fear about delivery. I was terrified of a C-section but when it actually happened, my recovery went well because I kept my mind calm. Mental strength is very important.
My baby is a toddler now and when I look back, those pregnancy mood swings feel so small. Don't worry if u feel overwhelmed or cry for no reason, this phase will pass.
Honestly, my main psychological change is that I can't tolerate anyone's voice anymore. I am so heavy and tired in my 3rd trimester that even a small question from my husband annoys me, can't wait to deliver.
Plain simple words me bolu toh dimag ka dahi ho jata hai due to hormones. Sometime you feel irritated at your husband for no reason, but just tell him it's the pregnancy talking, he will understand.
After my IVF journey, every mood swing made me feel guilty, but emotional ups and downs are completely normal. Your body is going through so much hormonally, please be very gentle with yourself.
I remember feeling so anxious and teary-eyed over small things when I was pregnant. Now while breastfeeding, I realize it was all just hormonal prep for motherhood, it definitely gets better.
My premium care program had a dedicated psychologist to discuss these mood shifts. If you feel extremely low or anxious, definitely talk to your hospital's counselor, they guide u so well.
