I had an ectopic and my doctor said things like previous tube infection, surgery, or earlier ectopic can raise the risk. Sometimes there is no clear reason at all. The important part is early scanning to catch it, so please dont skip your early gynac visit.
My gynac explained it happens when the embryo settles outside the uterus, usually in a tube. Risk factors she mentioned were past pelvic infections, tube damage, smoking and sometimes IVF. She stressed early detection through scan and hCG levels is what matters most.
We were watched closely in IVF because the risk can be slightly higher. If you have had one, please know it is not your fault. Early scans gave me peace of mind, do keep those appointments and lean on support.
