newly pregnant and trying to understand the whole journey. how many scans will i need across the months and what are they for? just want to plan ahead and not miss anything important.
Main ones, dating scan first, NT scan around 12 weeks, anomaly scan at 20, and growth scans later. Plus a doppler near the end sometimes. Keep all reports in one file, you'll need them.
The standard set is dating, NT, anomaly and growth scans, but exactly how many you need depends on your pregnancy. Don't compare with others, your gynac decides based on your situation. They'll give you the schedule.
I just had my anomaly scan and was so nervous before it! There's the early one, NT scan, this 20 week one, and growth scans later. Anyone else get super anxious before each scan or is it just me?
From what my doc scheduled, there's the dating scan early on, then NT scan around 11-13 weeks, the anomaly/level 2 scan around 18-20 weeks, and growth scans in the third trimester. Some get extra ones if needed. Your gynac will plan as per your case.
Just a heads up to budget for these, there are roughly 4-5 main scans through the pregnancy and they add up. The anomaly scan is the most important one. Ask your hospital for the full list and rough cost early so you can plan.
