Just asking out of curiosity, my routine bloodwork is coming up next week and they mentioned this test also. I dont know much about it and wanted to understand what signs are even linked to it during pregnancy. Pls share if u know.
This is one of the standard tests they do for all pregnant women at the start, so its nothing unusual to ask for. Early detection means doctors can protect both you and baby. Speak openly with your doctor, they handle this kindly.
Please dont rely on guessing symptoms for this, it can be silent. The antenatal blood panel includes HIV testing for everyone. Just talk to your gynac and get tested, its routine and confidential.
My doctor told me HIV often shows no clear symptoms, which is exactly why they do a routine blood test for it early in pregnancy. So you cant really judge by symptoms alone. If you have any concern, the simple test at your first visit is the answer.
