What blood tests are done in first trimester of pregnancy?
first pregnancy here and my gynac gave a whole list of tests but i dont really understand all of them. just want to know which blood tests are normal in the starting months so i know what to expect. anyone been through this recently?
Usually, your doctor will ask for a full blood count, blood group, and tests for things like iron levels, thyroid, and some infections. They just want to make sure everything is okay for you and baby. Don't worry, it's all routine.
Oh, I remember those early appointments and all the blood draws! It felt like so many tubes, didn't it? They check for so many important things like your hemoglobin, blood sugar, and if you have any infections. It's all to ensure a healthy journey for you and your precious little one. You're doing great!
They do a lot of initial tests, like for anemia, blood type, and definitely glucose screening. My doctor found I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, so it's really important they check these things early. Just follow whatever your gynac says, especially about diet after these tests.
It's totally normal to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the tests, I certainly did! They usually check for a complete blood count, blood group, screening for rubella, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and also thyroid. It's a lot, but it's all for your and baby's safety. Take a deep breath, you'll get through it.
Oh my god, I literally googled this everyday in my first trimester, thinking something was wrong! But actually, it's all standard. They'll check your general health, like if you're anemic, your blood group, and also screening for certain infections. Don't worry, it's all part of the process to keep you and baby healthy.
