What can i eat after methotrexate for ectopic pregnancy?
Going through a really hard time, had methotrexate for ectopic last week and feeling low. Doc gave some instructions but i forgot to ask properly about food. If anyone has been through this, what did u eat and what should i avoid? Thoda lost right now.
I am so sorry you had to face this. I am still pregnant and can only imagine how difficult this phase is for you. Did your doctor give you a specific list of foods to avoid, like spinach or other greens, during your follow-up?
Hang in there, dear. Remember to stop your prenatal vitamins and avoid foods high in folic acid like spinach, broccoli, and beans for a few days, as they can reduce the medicine's effect. Simple carbs, eggs, or light vegetable soups (without greens) are good options right now.
My saas was suggesting I eat lots of healthy palak and dal for recovery, but the doctor had clearly warned us to stay away from folate-rich food like leafy greens after methotrexate. So we just made simple light upma, idli, and plain rice. Do ask your doctor before eating anything heavy.
Most health trackers suggest avoiding high-folate foods like spinach, asparagus, and beans after getting methotrexate because folate can lower the drug's effectiveness. You should also pause any prenatal vitamins with folic acid. Stick to simple home-cooked food and monitor your hCG levels as advised.
I am so sorry you had to go through this, dear. My family used to suggest eating lots of greens to recover, but my doctor strictly told me to avoid leafy vegetables and legumes for a few weeks because they have folic acid which stops the medicine from working. Better to stick to simple rice and curds till your doctor says it's okay.
Having dealt with fertility issues myself, I know how hard ectopic pregnancy is. Doctors usually say to avoid green vegetables, lentils, and any multi-vitamins containing folic acid because it interferes with the methotrexate. Please keep in touch with your clinic and follow their exact diet chart.
Please be very careful during this recovery phase. Methotrexate requires you to strictly avoid foods rich in folic acid, like green leafy veggies and lentils, and you must stop taking your prenatals. Definitely consult your doctor for a customized diet plan, and go to the clinic immediately if you feel severe pain or heavy bleeding.
My heart goes out to you during this incredibly tough time. Since your body has been through so much, please be gentle with yourself. Just make sure to avoid any leafy greens or folic acid supplements as they can affect how the injection works, and keep your doctor informed of any discomfort.
I know how exhausting any medical procedure can be, especially when you are recovering. While recovering, stay away from leafy greens and prenatal pills as they contain folate which can clash with the injection. Focus on simple, easy-to-digest foods like curd rice or toast till you regain your strength.
Sending you a huge hug, sister. After ectopic recovery, your body needs gentle foods, but you must avoid folic acid and leafy greens like spinach for a while since methotrexate blocks it. Eat light meals like plain khichdi or white rice with light dal, and drink lots of water to flush things out.
