Im in my second trimester and this acid feeling is back almost every night, sometimes it comes right upto my throat. Why does it happen so much during pregnancy, is it the baby pressing or hormones? Just want to understand whats going on.
My gynac explained it nicely, the pregnancy hormones relax the valve at the top of the stomach, so acid comes back up easily. And later the growing uterus pushes on the stomach too. Thats why reflux gets worse as months go.
Haan this troubled me so much, especially after dinner na. It's the hormones plus the baby pushing up. Try not eating spicy heavy stuff late at night, that was my main trigger.
Beta it is very common, almost everyone gets it. The body becomes slow in digestion in these months. Eat thoda thoda many times instead of one heavy meal, it really helps the burning.
Mostly it's the normal hormone and pressure reason. But if your reflux is severe or coming with upper belly pain, swelling or bad headache, please dont just brush it off, get it checked with your doctor once to be safe.
Mainly hormones loosening that food pipe muscle, and the baby taking up space pressing your tummy. What worked for me, eat smaller meals, dont lie down right after eating, and keep your head a bit raised at night.
