Someone in family mentioned albinism after seeing a video, and now I am curious and a little worried. I don't know if anything during pregnancy causes it or if it is genetic. Can anyone explain simply?
I'm not an expert on this, but from what i know it's genetic and not because of anything the mom did. If it's something on your mind, the safest thing is to sit with a doctor who can explain it for your family specifically.
Take it easy, this isnt something a mother causes during pregnancy. It's a genetic thing carried in the family genes. If you're anxious about it, a doctor or genetic counsellor can guide you properly and put your mind at rest.
From what my doctor explained, albinism is genetic, it comes from the genes both parents pass on, not from anything the mother does or eats during pregnancy. So it isnt 'caused' by something in pregnancy. If it runs in either family, a genetic counsellor can explain the chances.
Albinism is an inherited condition due to genes affecting pigment, not something pregnancy diet or care causes. Please dont blame yourself if it's a worry. If there's family history or concern, ask your gynac about genetic counselling, thats the right place for clear answers.
